Bodily Injury
Liability Coverage pays when an insured person is legally liable for bodily injuries to others or for property damage to others caused by your vehicle or your operation of most non-owned vehicles. Bodily Injury Liability Coverage (BI) pays for accident- related medical expenses and for lost wages and disability, depending on the laws in the state where the accident occurred. Property Damage Liability Coverage (PD) pays for repairs, as well as any increased costs, resulting from the loss of use of that property by its owner (for example, if the other driver needed to rent an auto while his or her auto was being repaired).
The maximum amount that we would pay under either BI or PD Coverage is the limit of coverage you have selected. Depending on the state, you may purchase Liability Coverage as either a combined single limit (CSL) of coverage (for example, $300,000 CSL) or as split limits. Split limits represent per person and per occurrence limits for BI coverage and a per occurrence limit separately for PD.
For example, a Combined Single Limit of coverage of $300,000 means that $300,000 is the maximum amount that we will pay to all injured persons and for all damaged property as the result of one loss. A split BI limit of $100,000/$300,000 means the most that we will pay to any one injured person as the result of a loss is $100,000, and the total amount of damages we will pay to all injured persons from this one loss will not exceed $300,000. A separate $100,000 PD limit represents the maximum that we will pay for all damaged property as a result of this one loss. See policy for exact details.
Property Damage
Liability Coverage pays when an insured person is legally liable for bodily injuries to others or for property damage to others caused by your vehicle or your operation of most non-owned vehicles. Bodily Injury Liability Coverage (BI) pays for accident- related medical expenses and for lost wages and disability, depending on the laws in the state where the accident occurred. Property Damage Liability Coverage (PD) pays for repairs, as well as any increased costs, resulting from the loss of use of that property by its owner (for example, if the other driver needed to rent an auto while his or her auto was being repaired).

A separate $100,000 PD limit represents the maximum that we will pay for all damaged property as a result of this one loss. See policy for exact details.
Medical Expense
This part of your coverage pays for certain medical and funeral expenses resulting from a motor vehicle accident. This coverage protects anyone occupying your vehicle. It also covers you and resident family members while in other vehicles or if struck as a pedestrian. Coverage is available regardless of who is at fault for the accident, up to the limit of coverage you select. This limit of coverage applies separately to each covered person. See policy for exact details
Uninsured Motorists Bodily Injury
Generally, Uninsured Motorists Bodily Injury (UMBI) pays for injuries to you, your resident relatives and your passengers as a result of an accident caused by an uninsured driver or a hit- and-run driver. You are also covered as a pedestrian for these same events. Coverage includes payment for accident-related medical expenses, lost wages, and disability. In most states, UMBI coverage is mandatory and cannot be rejected unless you have signed a coverage rejection form.
The maximum amount that we would pay under UMBI Coverage is the limit of coverage you have selected. A split UMBI limit of $100,000/$300,000 means the most that would be paid to any one injured person as the result of a loss is $100,000, and the total amount of damages paid out to all injured persons from this one loss would not exceed $300,000.
In a few states, UMBI Coverage may be purchased as a combined single limit (CSL) of coverage. This means it is combined with Uninsured Motorists Property Damage Coverage (UMPD) and is expressed as a single limit. A single limit of coverage of $300,000 represents the maximum amount that we would pay to all injured persons and for all damaged property as the result of one loss.
Underinsured Motorists Bodily Injury
Underinsured Motorists Bodily Injury Coverage (UIMBI) protects you when you are injured in an accident caused by another motorist who doesn’t have enough coverage to pay for your injuries. You are also covered as a pedestrian for these same events. As with UMBI, you and your passengers are covered under UIMBI for accident-related medical expenses, lost wages, and disability.
In some states, it covers you up to the difference between the total amount collected or available from the other driver’s BI Coverage limit, and the limits you purchased for this UIMBI coverage. In other states, it pays for your injury-related damages in excess of what the driver’s liability coverage will pay, up to your UIMBI Coverage limit.
Comprehensive Deductible
This optional coverage pays for sudden and accidental damage to your car that is caused by something other than a collision.
- This includes damage caused by such things as fire, theft, hail, vandalism, riots, damage caused by animals, and glass breakage.
- Not every non-collision related loss is covered under Comprehensive Coverage. For instance, damage is not covered if it is caused by wear and tear, freezing, or mechanical breakdown. Also, damage to or theft of certain personal property within your car, such as tapes and compact disks, is not covered under your auto policy.
- Any customization you do to your vehicle after it is purchased is not covered unless you notify your insurance company.
- There are various deductible options that you can select for this coverage. The maximum amount paid under Comprehensive Coverage is the actual cash value of your auto (what your auto is worth today) minus the deductible, unless this coverage is modified by a separate endorsement.
Glass BuyBack
When you purchase this coverage in conjunction with Comprehensive coverage, the deductible does not apply, if your auto was equipped with safety glass and it broke.
Collision Deductible
This optional coverage pays for sudden and accidental damage from collision or rollover to your auto no matter who causes the accident. Collision Coverage applies if your auto is struck by another vehicle or if your auto hit another object that caused damage to your auto. There are various deductible options that you can select for this coverage. The maximum amount that would be paid under Collision Coverage is the actual cash value of your auto (what your auto is worth today) minus the deductible, unless this coverage is modified by a separate endorsement.
Towing and Labor
If your covered auto were disabled, we would pay for the costs of labor done at the place of disablement and the costs of towing for each disablement, up to the maximum limit shown on the Declarations Page. A deductible does not apply to these payments.
Substitute Transportation
This optional coverage will pay for a car to rent because your auto has been disabled due to a covered loss. The amount reimbursable will not exceed the per day and per incident limits you have chosen. Other forms of substitute transportation (such as public transit) may also qualify for reimbursement. Refer to your policy for state specific details.
